Details
Housings for gear reducers are used to position rotating components, hold and distribute lubricant and are the primary means of mounting the gear reducer to the driven equipment. Housings for Planetgear reducers are called “maincasesâ€. Maincases have mounting provisions for the input and output subassemblies on the ends. Maincases for Planetgear reducers in the Mercury and Mars sizes have the ring gear teeth cut on the inside but require a foot kit for foot mounted applications. Maincases for most other sizes do not include the ring gear but have the mounting feet cast into them and are finished per standard catalog dimensions.
