A shaft mounted inline/concentric gear reducer using planetary gearing. Standard mounting of the SMP uses a shrink disc connection and a single torque arm. Heavy duty roller bearings on the input and output shafts are subject to external forces only - not internally generated gear forces. Modular sun and carrier gearing is used to achieve multiple reducer ratios. Heavy duty roller bearings and grease purgeable seals provide maximum protection in extreme environments. High and low speed shaft bearings and seals are commercially available. Efficiency is 97.5% at each reduction stage. All units are supplied with a single torque arm as standard. The motor mount employs a “wide stance†arrangement that provides among the most rigid motor mounting available. Motor mounts allow for precise speed adjustment as needed through the use of a customer supplied belt drive. Motor mounts can be installed in a variety of positions on the reducer, they simplify belt tensioning and accommodate NEMA T-frame motors appropriately sized for the reducer. Fan & shroud kits can be used with most motor mounts if needed. When used in screw conveyor drive applications, the height of the standard motor mount has been designed to allow ample clearance over the trough to permit easy removal of the trough cover without disassembling the screw conveyor drive.
